Jeffery Smith
Well I may get hung for saying and doing this but I went to pick out a hollowbody today with my heart set on an epiphone dot, es339 or etc.... Well I found an Ibanez as73 that was used. And by used I mean "put in a case and forgotten for a year" for the meager price of $250. I put $20 down on it and am waiting for a setup and clean up to be done on it! No sin in buying one of those. I think Ibanez and Epiphone rank closely in providing a great value in a guitar. fromnabulax
Just to take this into a somewhat new direction... The coolest semi with a very light and smallish body with good tone and fast fretboard I have picked up in a long time for under $500.00 is the Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe. It comes with soapbar P90s and has a very warm tone played cleanly. I don't really play overdriven guitar anymore so I can't really vouch for it in a band setting fully cranked, but for light jazz, pop and lounge style blues it's just great. Cyphre
I had an AS73. It was a great guitar, and just gorgeous. Good choice. :)
