WhininBoy
I have an old 1936 Gibson L00 and use a Dean Markley pickup that I am not crazy about. Can anyone suggest a pickup for me to use? Since it is a vintage guitar, I don't want to be drilling holes to the sides.
eots
I've gone through a couple Dean Markley pickups. I use a Fishman soundhole pup now in my 12'er http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fishman-NeoD-Magnetic-Soundhole-Pickup?sku=303160 Sounds much better than the DM to me. You need a screwdriver to mount it though as it has built in 'clamps'. When I'm too lazy to remove it I just stuff the cord into the soundhole and leave it til I need it again. Never tried this one but there is a barcus berry http://www.elderly.com/new_instruments/names/barcus-berry-outsider-pickup--BB1457.htm Still may have the issue of stepping on the cord and yanking the pup with either. jefleppard
a lot of guys swear by these because they are non-intrusive. http://www.kksound.com/purewestern.html
rscott4079
I always thought those old vintage DeArmond Soundhole Pickups were cool. Very bluesy.

Jinder
K&K do a great vintage-friendly strapjack endpin for use with their gear that would be ideal. Their pickups are incredible.
jt
I've got a gaggle of vintage Gibsons (1904 mandolin through 1943 SJ) that I gig with: Whenever possible, I mic them. When I need to plug in, I use an LR Baggs M1. I've got the active version in case I need to plug directly into the house PA. I find a soundhole pickup perfect for what I want becasue, as you know, you don't need to modify your guitar in any way and can play the guitar without the pickup whenever you wish. The Baggs sounds great. The new Fishman looks like a good option, too, but I've not heard one.
