DiegoR8
Hi everyone, I'm Diego from Italy and I'm looking for some answers about the songwriter deluxe studio EC... In particular: - which is the first year of production? Gibson splits it in two models, Standard and Studio, isn't it? - the preamp: some models have the EQ on side, some have the volume control in the soundhole only...why? thank you in advance, all the best! Jeremy Morton
Hello Diego, The Songbird started in 1997 and in the early 2000's switched to the name Songwriter. We currently have the Studio Deluxe and the Studio Deluxe EC. The EC has the Rib mounted electronics while the non cutaway has a volume control in the sound hole. The Standard models had sound hole mounted PU's in them as well. I hope this helps? All the best. Jeremy

Gibby Acoustic Lover
There are a few slight variations through the years, mainly with binding around the neck being down all the way or not. I have a SW EC and love it. To me, it has a much more complex tone than many other Rosewood backed guitars. It looks great and sounds even better!
