Exact dating is no longer possible since the 2014 model year production began. The numbers are YYNNNNNNN, so it says the 81897th item stamped for the 2015 model year.

I have a 2015 gibson j 45 with an 8 digit serial number that is easy to understand from the info on the main gibson site, perhaps the electrics or more recent acoustics have gone to 9 digits which does seem to complicate the formula, customer service at Gibson should be very helpful to you.....
