Aoresteen Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I did a slight mod to my 1998 Epiphone Les Paul Deluxe black. I have all four colors that Epiphone made the Les Paul Deluxe in: Blue, Red, Black, & Gold. The story on them is here: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/81694-epiphone-les-paul-deluxe-mods-a-la-pete-townsend/page__p__1117440__hl__%22les+paul+deluxe%22__fromsearch__1#entry1117440 I decided to do the Peter Green mod "Greeny" to my black Epiphone Les Paul Deluxe. The neck pickup has the bar magnet 'rotated' 180 degrees to put it out of phase with the bridge pickup magnet. Nice You Tube video on what is involved: I wasn't sure just what type magnet the Epi LPD has in the original Epi pickups and to makes sure I didn't mess things up I had my tech flip the magnet. While he was working on it he added a bone nut. When my tech was done he turned the pickup around like the neck pickup is in the Peter Green Les Paul: Gary Moore changed two of the knobs to top hat type so I did the same: This mod sounds great when done on the Epi mini-bucker. Makes it sound sweet!.
Campbell Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Very cool idea! Would be nice if you could post an audio link someday for us to hear the results, too. Now, I'd like to know if Epiphone plans on a reissue of this model with it's mini humbuckers?
Aoresteen Posted February 14, 2016 Author Posted February 14, 2016 I hope so. Now the the Les Paul Deluxe is back in the Gibson line we can only hope for a new Epi LPD. And it should be in Cherry Sunburst and Gold colors! Epiphone, are you listening ? :D
