1991 LP Custom - genuine?

Hey guys,

Is it a fake?

I don't believe it is but it's too good to be true otherwise (and you know what they say..!).

I just bought a 1991 Gibson Les Paul Custom.

I've checked it out as best I can and believe it to be genuine.

But I'd like some more expert opinion (please don't direct me to the MLP forum; I'd rather it be a fake).

I need to check it out further is because it is 25 years old and almost unmarked.

The condition is so good it's unreal (see pic's).

It's either a fake or it's been sitting in its' case underneath someone's bed somewhere for 25 years.

It's normal over here not to get a CoA, so I can't go by that.

Anyway, here's some photo's.

I won't post serial # as I don't want to help the fakers.

For the same reason I will be more than happy just to receive 'yes' / 'no' answers with no justifications that they might also use.

Thanks for looking and, by the way, for those of you who know me, this is not for me.

I am aware that it's a 'hefty-lefty' and that I'm a 'righty-tighty';

It will be a surprise birthday present for my left-handed business partner (and best-mate of fifty+ years), in a few weeks time.

I'd rather know now if I'm going to be giving him a fake.

Thanks Bence.

I was convinced that it is but it's such a good example (for its' age) that I wanted to have some back-up to my own opinions.

I am pleased to say that I didn't rip the guy off either and gave him a good price for it.

Good luck in the footy.

I have a Hungarian lady-friend and it's great to see her get so excited over a game of football!

Heheheh.

You are welcome!

It's in great shape for sure. I bought a 1978 Les Paul Recording in 2013 in brand-new condition. There are guitar enthusiasts (like me) who take care about instruments beyond normality. OCD...

Yes, football! The whole country is very excited. After long decades, we finally manage to score goals on international games. :)

Best wishes... Bence

Lovely Custom! Genuine, as Bence has already said.

Someone is going to be a Happy Bunny come their birthday...

Nice Present; both to give and to receive!.............[thumbup]

...It's normal over here not to get the authenticity certificate, so I can't go by that...

AFAIK the regular LP Custom doesn't come with a COA in any case (pun).

Also AFAIK the COA didn't even exist back in '91 (I believe they started to appear for what we now refer to as the '59 Pre-Historics in 1992).

Oh, thanks Pip.

I didn't know that.

Explains why it's normal I guess.

Heheheh

I'm considering filming the presentation and putting it on YouTube.

Will post a link on this thread later if, as, and when I do.

Looks definitely genuine from here. [thumbup]

The Norlin shape brand logo makes me think she's a circa 1974 reissue model.
