blindboygrunt
Thinking of a new nut and saddle eBay has ads for bone nuts and saddles but are they genuine ? Anyone know of somewhere in uk to order new Ines from ? Preferably shaped and filed etc . Think I'd like a shot at making a saddle by mimicking the old one , but have no nut files and measuring space between strings etc is beyond me Cheers folks

blindboygrunt
They get no points for website design Thanks I'll try them but it's written in there that they suggest a luthier
stephencoh
I bought a bone nut for my J15 from Tonetech in Stockport http://www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk The brand they carry is a Japanese one, 'Hosco'. There's a guy in Derbyshire, Chris Alsop, who I've bought from before. He's brilliant, will do you a copy of any nut or saddle you send in http://www.chrisalsopguitar.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=common/home
Fullmental Alpinist
What about a pilgrimage to see Em7? Wasn't he working on making his own nuts last summer? Shoot, I'll buy you both a pint if you'll post the jam fest the two of you could have. Anyone else want to buy them a round in return for a song? blindboygrunt
If I went to see em7 I might not ever come home again Not sure where he is even , I know it's Europe somewhere but could easily be a different planet completely I might learn this luthiers stuff and buy some tools and offer a come and wait on your guitar service !! All you can do here is leave your guitar off and pick it up in two or three weeks when it's ready. And I ain't too fond of that idea . Can't be alone in that notion

And I ain't too fond of that idea . Can't be alone in that notion Nope, you're not. My bird was gone for about three weeks earlier in the year--in the shop getting set up. Definitely was missed. Almost worked up the nerve to pick up my Strat, but it's just not the same thing. It needs to go back for some fine tuning--think there's a high fret or two. The luthier is very cool--33 years in biz and with almost all that as a Gibson authorized service center. He works on everything with strings and is massively busy. All his Yelp ratings are top notch--and told me bringing it back for fine tuning is included in the original fee. Loves Hummingbirds--had two others in the shop at the same time and he was in heaven. Even his shop helper was drooling on my guitar. A pain to get it sorted out, but on nights like tonight the way it sounds--at least from where I'm sitting--makes it all worthwhile. Sounds amazing.
