ics1974
I never know in terms of measurment what high, low or medium action is. For example My SG is set to 2.2 mm low E and 1.7 mm high E measured at the 12th fret. What is my action condidered?
chris888
Thats quite high. Just set it to how you like it. Dont bother measuring exactly..... Whats the point, just to say to your mates, "I have a medium action?"
NeoConMan
Low is frets buzzing at any encouragement from heavy fretting, hard strumming, etc... High is where you could slip a deck of playing cards under the strings at the 12th fret. In between is medium. Unless the guitar is used for alot for slide, I see no reason not to keep the action as low as practical. Requires proper set up, neck relief, intonation, pickup height - in other words, the way it was designed to be.
freddairy
What's Gibson's spec? 5/64th on the bass side at the 12th fret and 3 /64th for the treble side? I'd say anything below that is low and anything above that is high.
