uncle fester
Hey Folks - Here's a 60s era J50 at a local shop. Not really in a place to buy, but I'm going to go check it out (interested in how it sounds with that bridge). $1499 seems very low IMO - any big words of caution or things I should look for when I check it out. If it is a good deal and anyone wants it... it's fair game IMO. Thanks for any input...
MorrisrownSal
Looks more 70s to me. square. heavily braced. Probably sounds like a harmony? Not good or bad, but not likely to be the Jorma sound or JT sound.
j45nick
It's a square-shoulder long-scale version, probably from about 1970 with that bridge. It is 1969 or later, and I'd say later. May well be double-x top-braced. Looks to have plenty of saddle, so neck angle may be ok. It has little in common with a traditional J-45/J-50. The price is about right. It is certainly not low. Play it, and see if you like it. Some of these are decent, others less so. Hint: a used modern J-45 standard at a similar price is likely to be a better-playing and better-sounding instrument. rustystrings
I am with J45Nick here - for that amount of money, I would go shopping for a used Bozeman-produced J-45.
