Daz19 Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Hi All, Its good to be back in the land of Gibson ! My last Gibson was a 2011 Les Paul standard faded that I never gelled with, but after a few years around the block of Fender, PRS, Ibanez, etc...I'm back and addicted ! On impulse I bought a LP Tribute DC looking for the P90 tone having never tried one, and that led me to buying a 2006 SG Special. I was intending on upgrading to an SG Standard if the special worked out but I can't see the need at the moment, the special just feels and sounds perfect - the lack of neck binding and a few years of love have given it a comfortable rolled edge, similar to the feel of an old worn in Telecaster. The neck is Beefy, much heftier than the LPDC but easy to go between the two. I'm loving the variety of tones I can get from these two and especially surprised at the versatility of the SG, I also presumed they were just a one trick pony for rock, but covers clean blues and Jazz too ! My other guitar love is my cherished 1980 Ibanez Artist AS200 Thanks for reading, and happy new year ! Quote
Retired Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Welcome to the forums Daz and congrats on the SG. You can hardly beat the P-90's, Its my favorite to go to. I have 2 guitars with them in and the Riviera has 3 P-90's by the way, Happy New Year. Quote
