VBB
Is there any reason I shouldn't take off all the strings on my GOR? I need to remove the pickups to check there for my electrical short, and am wondering if there is anything to look out for? TIA, Val
BigKahune
the end stop and bridge aren't locking - in other words, the end stop (and maybe the bridge) could fall off and scratch your finish (the pressure of the strings holds them in place). CharlieP
You can also do electrical damage to the sensors that are in the bridge if it falls out of position. So take care that everything stays put. Especially if you turn the guitar over without everything secured.
VBB
Ok, thanks. I'm glad I asked, because both those pieces look like they're srewed or bolted on to the body!
DiamondJig
My bridge is a locking one, the screws are on the side, the tail piece is not. The big problem with these 2 if they fall off is that there is a ribon connector (wire) for each that runs into the body and it can disconnect from the tail piece or bridge and is a pain to insert back in. stoz
The manual advises against changing all the strings at once, for the above reasons. However, have you ever cleaned a guitar's fretboard without taking all its strings off? I haven't and I won't be starting anytime soon. I'll just be quick, and secure the bridge with something beforehand.
