Metal Toddz
Did Gibson ever make a neck through Flying V?
SteveFord
Not that I'm aware of.
Metal Toddz
Me neither. I have one that I could swear is Gibson. Thanks for reply.
SteveFord
They do have a custom shop so post some detailed pics. What's under the truss rod cover?
Metal Toddz
A bunch of paint. Cover was missing when I found it. It has the same 5/16" nut on the end like a Gibson. Im beginning to think perhaps an experienced luthier built this on his/her own.
Sgt. Pepper
The only neck through guitar and the basses must be too, that Gibson makes is the Firebird that I am aware of. Gibson is fond of bird themed guitars. Edited October 30, 2022 by Sgt. Pepper
Metal Toddz
Thats what I thought also. I think maybe an experienced luthier made this one himself. It looks like Gibson!

It looks like Gibson! If China can copy Gibsons, I'm sure an experianced luthier can too. It could be a one off. Does it have Gibson pots or pickups? That is pretty easy and non invasive (when you change strings) to find out. The pot are easy they are just under the cover. Edited October 30, 2022 by Sgt. Metal Toddz
The pots are totally solder covered. Very old Seymour Duncans were put in. Totally refinished. TOM replaced with ancient Kahler trem. Tuners replaced with very old (but very good) gold Grovers. I may try to clean up the pots & resolder. It weighs a ton! Metal Toddz
The answer from Gibson is definitely NO.
