JCM800 2210
Hi, first post and hoping some SG uber nerds can help find something. I had a '68 Special and sold it partly because of the narrow nut and partly because I didn't want to be the idiot that snapped the headstock off such a nice guitar. Now I miss its P-90s and crazy thin neck. I've been hunting, but have had little luck so far and I'm wondering if I'm looking in the right places. Q: Has post-Norlin Gibson ever had a production SG with the following feature set: 60s slim neck ideal (medium will work) Regular width neck at the nut '60s neck heel, the shorter one Two P-90s Intonate-able bridge Stop tail 60s bevels (nice to have) Bound fretboard (nice to have) What I've found so far: New SG Special — Perfect, but no stop tail '61 SG Standard —Perfect, but hum buckers SG Classic — Perfect, but I've read it has a rounded neck SG Naked — Very nice but I've read it has a narrow nut SG 60s Tribute 2011-2012 — Very very close with a medium neck 2016 SG Standard T with P-90s — Just found pictures, looks almost perfect, likely has medium neck judging by neck heel Is there an odd model that ticks all the boxes above? Any advice on next best? many thanks!! Edited November 3, 2022 by JCM800 2210
SteveFord
My SG Classic had a neck like a classical guitar, it was just bizarre. Maybe go for a 61 Reissue and stick in the humbucker sized P90s that Gibson makes?
kidblast
I have a 2005 era classic and a 2012 standard the 2005 classic neck is not as chunky as the 2012. it's really a toss up with gibson necks
