Ignotum-Per-Ignocious
No i dont belive its the best...but u think the exploer is better...which isnt true cause they are both equal. No, guitars don't have to be equal. You think the V is better, i think the Explorer is better. There's no problem with that.
Twiz
I'd say get a SG Standard.
Thundergod
I would get a Les Paul' date=' either a Studio or a Standard. I use mine for rock and metal and it suits me perfectly. Welcome to the forums.[/quote'] +1 I use them for metal too (and for everything below metal and they do great for everything). The SG is a great guitar too, very nice and confortable in the uper frets.

callen3615
Flying V...everyone should own at least one! Ill never touch another v.
Thundergod
I think you should try as many as them as you can, but, the standard is the Les Paul, and in my opinion is the right gibson to start with. The second can be a SG or an explorer. The third can be a Firebird or a V.
stevezapp
Slightly off topic, but I've never played a V. Not even a knock off. I always mean to when I go to a shop, but just never got around to it. I've owned LPs, an SG and an Explorer, so based on those I'd recommend the Les Paul every day of the week. ...but that's just lil ol' me.
