djroge1 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I came across this picture surfing the web and found it interesting. You just don't see one of these every day. Here is the web decription This is a One-Of-A-Kind Custom Built Les Paul 12 String. The neck is a NOS (New Old Stock), late 1970’s maple neck, three piece maple with a rosewood fretboard. The body is also NOS, early 1980’s Les Paul Custom body. The pots and caps are dated 1978. Finish is Alpine White. Gibson has not built any Les Paul 12 string models that we are able to locate. We believe this to be the only guitar like this in existance, (other than a Les Paul Custom in black, made for Mike Rutherford of Genesis).
KSG_Standard Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Maple neck for strength and stability with the 12 strings?
Homz Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I profess ignorance. What kind of neck is on my LP Standard 07? Mahogany? Me guesses?
KSG_Standard Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 LPs and SGs have a mahogany neck, one of the "knocks" against them in some people's eyes, is the lack of strength and stability of mahogany....I believe that's why Norlin era gibsons had a volute.
