djroge1
Since all of the old threads are gone I cannot do a search. What type of pots are used in Les Pauls? Do they vary from model to model. What I mean are - do they use Audio Taper or Linear Taper or both and where? Why use a certain type in the vol and not the tone? bobv
It has varied by year more than by model. The most ubiquitous circuit has 500K audio taper pots with .022 uF (microfarad) capacitors, and that's what most rewire kits will have for use with humbuckers. However Gibson switched to linear taper pots (for some unknown reason...) and some models have 300K in the mix. So it's hard to say unless you have a specific model or date range in mind, then I'm sure someone here knows for sure.
Tim Plains
Historic reissues, CTS - 500k tone pots (with no taper), 500k volume. Non-historic reissue, just regular Gibson USA pots, I suppose - 500k tone pots, 300k volume pots.
