guitarstrummer
The dates for the 2008 Gibson Homecoming have now been set. It will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 12, 13, 14, 2008 in Bozeman, Montana. The Gibson Homecoming is a gathering of independent Gibson enthusiasts who will informally gather in Bozeman to meet others who share their love of Gibson guitars. Hotel reservations can be made by contacting the Gran Tree Hotel at 1-800-624-5865. A reduced room rate of $106 per night is available (single and double rooms) or $114 (King suites). In order to receive the reduced rate, you must give them the group name of "Gibson Homecoming". Availability is limited, so it is recommended that you register early. If the Gran Tree fills up, there are other hotels in the Bozeman area, but that is their busy time of the year, so register early in either case. The Gran Tree has a website of www.bestwestern.com/grantreeinn. The hotel has a restaurant, lounge, casino and indoor pool. There is also an airport shuttle service available. We are still working out all of the planned events, so they will be announced at a later date. However, there will be a tour of the Gibson Montana facility, two Open Mic events, and a Basic Guitar Set-Up Clinic for sure. All costs associated with this event (meals, hotel, etc.) are the responsibility of each individual attending. I will be handling the registration process for the event. Please e-mail me at guitarstrmr@aol.com. Let me know the number of slots requested, names of individuals attending, address, Gibson Forum Screen Name, and an e-mail address (so I can recontact you for updates). Registrations will be limited to 40 participants. Anyone registering after we have reached that number will be placed on a waiting list. In the event that we have any cancellations, those people on the waiting list will be contacted in the order that they were placed onto the waiting list to fill any open slots. Guest NattyBumppo
Good idea putting this back on the new forum. How about posting the link to the Homecoming website?
guitarstrummer
I could post that link, but it hasn't been updated yet for 2008. So, all of the information would be last year's. It should be updated in the next few days and I'll post the link at that time.

bs
Can't go, unfortunately. However, I have a question if somebody thinks it's important enough to ask: How did Gibson settle on their somewhat peculiar standard neck width? (1 23/32", or 1 29/40", which is 1.725 converted to a fraction)? Not complaining, just curious.
guitarstrummer
I'll try to make sure your question is asked, bs. I think I'll start a new thread for questions and will include yours on it. We've done that every year and it seems to work best.

guitarstrummer
I've been in contact with Paul Decker of Music Villa. If anyone is thinking about having set-ups done while at the Homecoming, they may want to give them a call now to arrange it so they can schedule them. They now have two people (Ronnie Monk and Marcus Engstrom) who can do set-ups on acoustics and they range in price from approximately $75-$100. http://www.musicvilla.com/feature/index/
guitarstrummer
Just wanted to bump this up for any of the new forum members. We still have several openings, if anyone would still like to attend. If so, send me an e-mail with your information and I'll add you to our list. guitarstrummer
It's now less than 2 1/2 months away. We still have openings if anyone's interested in attending. I'll only be taking registrations for another month or so. We'll then have to cut off the registrations so we can finalize our plans based on the exact number of people attending. One of our participants has organized a private effort to collect door and event prize donations for the Homecoming. However, if any of you happen to be in business and would like to donate something for a door prize, we'll gladly accept any donation, guitar related or not. Please contact me if you are interested. If you have already registered and have not yet signed up for the Wednesday night informal gathering or for the Thursday evening meal at Montana Ale Works, please contact me as soon as possible. Skipm has again volunteered to be our official Homecoming reporter this year. He did a great job last year. He will be making Homecoming update reports on the forum, so those who were unable to attend will be able to see what took place.
guitarstrummer
Last call for signing up for the Wednesday night get together for early birds. If you would like to be included, contact me by Wednesday, April 9th. Also, we still have openings for the Homecoming. If you'd like to attend, please contact me as soon as possible. I'll no longer be accepting registrations after May 1st, so that we can finalize plans.
guitarstrummer
Only two months from today when some of us will be arriving in Bozeman!! We're still working on some door prizes, but so far we've had a donation of a leather guitar strap from Sully's Straps and some G7th Capos. Thank you to Sully's and G7th Capos. http://www.sullysstraps.com/index.html http://www.g7th.com/ The Bozeman Chamber of Commerce will also be providing Visitor Guides and maps for our group (so you'll have no excuse if you get lost). I will be sending out an e-mail in the near future to those of you who have signed up for the Wednesday evening get together in order to let you know the time and place. For the rest of you, the first planned event will be on Thursday, June 12th at 3:00 PM at our hospitality room at the Gran Tree. You'll have to check with the front desk at the Gran Tree to determine the location of the room. I will pass out packets to all of you at that time, which will contain all of the information you'll need during the Homecoming. Anyone getting excited yet? guitarstrummer
Jeez' date=' I wish this was gonna be a webcast for those of us that can't go. [/quote'] Not possible, but you'll feel like you're there after reading SkipM's posts of the event. He did an excellent job last year. You'll almost be able to smell the rosewood right through your computer screen. Just don't get your nose stuck in your USB port. Bad things could happen.
