deepblue
I was told by Charvel (Fender) that I should use gun stock oil only for the neck/fingerboard. Its Maple. Im looking for opinions here... Do you think Fret Doctor can be used instead?
Bluemoon
I would assume that Fret Doctor would be OK on any neck wood. I don't see why it work be OK to use on one type, and not on another.

TommyK
Gunstock oil? What's init? I seem to recall it having a kerosene smell to it. Kerosene might dissolve hide glue. Gun stocks don't have any glue joints, so this wouldn't be an issue. Best stick with tried and true: Fret board conditioner which can be bought as lemon oil in the furniture / building supply store.
