Californiaman
My family and I went to see the Allen Hancock College Concert Band last night. My boys thought it was a great performance. My five-year-old daughter slept through it. I actually enjoyed it a great deal. Culture is a good thing. My favorite part was the parts written for "deep" brass instruments like the trombone, tuba and the sousaphone. My youngest boy enjoyed the percussion, especially the cymbals. ChanMan
If you ever get the chance to see the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble, go. You will not be disappointed :- Glad y'all had a good time (or, a good nap, as it were...)
Riverside
If you ever get the chance check out a Moravian Trombone Choir - they usually go all-out around Christmas. http://www.moravianmusic.org/MMusic.html
grampa
Being a former trombone player, I can relate to concert bands. One of the best national anthems I ever heard was by the tuba quartet from the San Francisco symphony. Really, really cool and deep.
Californiaman
That's how they started off Saturday evening's show. The national anthem.
