celicaeddie
Hi all, I have an 84 "the SG" made in Nashville, when I aquired it several years ago it had a cherry sunburst finish that I was told or led to believe is original. I have looked at some websites, Gibson included and have not seen this finish anywhere else. It still has that finish, I wouldn't change it for anything every one who sees it remarks on it. any clue if Gibson actually made this finish on the SG? jimmiJAMM
Can you post a few pics? That always expedites the investigation.
BigKahune
The SG Deluxe of 1984 came in ebony, wine red with antique sunburst, vintage cherry sunburst and silverburst. So yes, vintage cherry sunburst Pulled from this reference: Guitar History: Gibson SG - page 32. BTW, I'd like to see a pic of that.
Laaz
If your talking about "The SG" as in firebrand I believe it only came in a Walnut finish as did "the Les paul & "335"
80LPC
The later "The SG" Deluxe guitars were mahogany. It was part of Gibson's strategy to switch back to mahogany across all the SG range. I've read about the mahogany "The SGs", but never seen one.
celicaeddie
Hi all, Well I would love to post the photos I took of the sg this morning, but since I'm new to this not quite sure how to accomplish that feat. I tryed inserting an image in this post, to no avail. Thought I was smarter than that, but hey what do I know I can't even get a few pics to post. Any help would be appreciated, will gladly post them.
