Gilliangirl Posted January 20, 2010 Share Posted January 20, 2010 I found this out yesterday. I guess Rufus (Wainwright, her son) cancelled his February tour because of an illness in the family. Now we know why. I'm sure Rufus, Martha and Anna (sister) are hurting pretty bad right now. So sad. Edit: oops, I didn't see the article til I clicked the POST button and it refreshed the page. Red 333 Posted January 20, 2010 Share Posted January 20, 2010 I discovered Kate and Anna for myself years ago, after I saw their names listed as back up singers on a Richard Thompson track. I got their latest (at the time) record, and quickly fell in love. At turns whistful, funny, or heartbreaking---the songs they wrote and performed always felt completely true. And Kate and Anna harmonized only as sisters can, with two voices that were together so much more than the sum of their parts. I have their albums on my MP3 player, and always seem to listen to one or two on a plane trip. I will miss Kate, a true, great talent. onewilyfool Posted January 20, 2010 Author Share Posted January 20, 2010 Well.....as a young Canadian myself, I grew up on folk songs.....Kate, Ian and Sylvia, Gordon Lightfoot.....Murry McGlocklin...and started playing guitar to these greats.......So this was a very sad story for me as well....
