Rewddawg1
I recently bought a new SG 3 and it comes with gold plated pup covers and hardware. Being it is an 07' model the pup covers and hardware are in desperate need of a good clean & polish. Any recommendations on what to use and what not to use? Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. Oddly all of my previous guitars had open coil pups. Thanks Rewd.
L5Larry
Use ONLY liquid cleaner/polish on gold plated hardware, DO NOT USE any paste type products as they will rub the gold right off (yes, I've done that). I generally wipe down my gold hardware as the last operation of cleaning my guitars with the polishing cloth and pump polish residue left on it from wiping down the rest of the guitar. A regular LIGHT wipedown is all it should need. Gold hardware will wear much faster than nickel or chrome because gold is a very soft metal, and there is nothing you can do about that.
