retrosurfer1959
Wife's company did a parking lot garage sale so she went to help Sunday a.m. she recognized the name so she bought this for $25. Don't know much about the solid body Ric's so I don't even know the model number but looks like it was 328.00 in November 1985 from a shop in Los Angeles according to the receipt which was still in the gig bag. Poor guitar looks like it was never played not a scratch anywhere perfect bright red paint and the strings were so bad I wouldn't be surprised if they were the originals. Great low action and silky feel neck with a nice crunchy single coil sound. Love garage sales every once in a while.

retrosurfer1959
LOL - loved the story thanks hopefully it's not a demonic guitar the lady she bought it from has owned it since it was new and she might be demonic supposedly she sells Avon so you never know. I did say I didn't know what model it was but I'm sure it's not a bass.
pohatu771
I did a little research... it's a Rickenbacker 230 in Red. Red was only an option between 1985 and 2000, and the 230 was made between 1984 and the early 90s. So it wasn't made in 1984.

pohatu771
There was also the 250, which was a bound version of the 230, and the 260, which was the 250 with a maple fretboard. There was also a Glenn Frey model (230GF) which had a pickguard. The 260 used this same pickguard. This has also been called the "Hamburg" model, for some reason. I think there was another signature version, also.
