Silenced Fred
I was hesitant, I tried it, and I kinda like it. The strings seem "looser". Even if it is all in my head, I'm gonna do it because I like it.
retrosurfer1959
Neo' date=' I have to confess that after all these threads, this is the first time I've gone to read your article/essay. I liked it, it was clearly put and seemed well thought out, if a bit opinionated. [biggrin'] But I have a question - does this: indicate in any way that there is some kind of historical precedence for top-wrapping, maybe pre-dating the final TOM design? I don't really know any guitar-making history, but now I'm curious about this detail. Bingo - I've heard from a couple of old time techs that this is exactly how it started and that since some players and techs were used to stringing that way they just kept on either out of desire for the same feel or just because that's how they did it. I have it on two guitars and never really noticed a difference I still do it on those guitars just because I feel like it. It's 100% cosmetic fort a guitar as far as I'm concerned. I do think it looks cool especially on a older worn Les Paul.
