rokitkid
I got an unsealed Gibson SG Standard still in cardboard box. Serial on the print label reads 117890024. Would like to sell it as unopened. Gibson guitar serial number decoder. Date a Gibson by serial number (serial-number-decoder.com) gives me this result: Results for 117890024 This guitar was made on 27 June 2019 The Guitar Dater Project - Gibson Serial Number Decoder or Gibson Guitar/Mandolin Serial Number Decoder - GuitarInsite do not recognize the serial. Can I be sure that a) it's not fake and b) that it was made 2019? Thanks for your help!
Sgt. Pepper
Day 178 on a Julian Calendar June 26th. The numbers to the far left that are 11789 which means you take the 1st and 5th number and that is the year 2019 then 178 is the Julian Date of June 26th. 2019 was not a leap year so it should be the 26th not the 27th. Gibson Les Paul
I just bought a Gibson Les Paul it. It has a gold front and black body. The serial number on the back of the headstock is 019051. One website shows it to be 1967 and another shows 1961. Any Idea of the year?

Headroom
Around 1982-83 I bought a wine red Les Paul Custom. I stopped using it on 2002, stored it and today I took it out to check it. It's very rough and its going to require some repairs and restoration. I took out the strings the bridge, tail piece ,pick guard, knobs and took some pictures. I'd like some info on when it was build and the hardware (maybe parts numbers) to replace.

HBrown
I just purchased a used Gibson. I know it’s a 2016, but I’m looking for authentication as to the finish and model. The serial # is: 160013671. Can you please identify the model and finish for me from the serial # please. I appreciate your time. I’m a 65 year old lifelong Gibson customer. thank you, H Brown. This is only a group of guitar users not Gibson. as for your question, no serial number tells you year, day, and production number. on a string change unscrew the 4 screws that hold the pickups in inside you will see some written letters those letters are finishing codes for the works. They will decode to colour and finish
