Dub-T-123
I can't tell you for sure about the covers. Might as well try it and see if it works. If not, the Gibson ones aren't too expensive. If you put on strings with a would g (11s?) you will probably have some bad tuning issues unless you get your nut properly set up. I'm personally not a fan of those heavy strings. I'd rather not fight my guitar so much.
angustonedog
its a set of 9's that are sold by Ernie ball. Its a wound 20, which is a g. i know that old sets of strings used to have a wound g, i was just wondering if it would create a more desireable tone. Dub-T-123
I've never heard of that. Typically wound Gs are in heavy sets of strings. Personally I prefer the feel and tone of regular 9's. It's just my thing I guess. It couldn't really hurt to try the wound G. I had one on my Tele and I didn't like it.
