Tim Plains
Do you mean the wraparound bridge like this? http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/1954-Les-Paul-Goldtop-Gloss.aspx All '57 reissues have the tune-o-matic. It came out in 1957. Like this. http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/1957-Les-Paul-Goldtop-VOS.aspx If you see a gold top that doesn't have the ABR-1 bridge, it's a reissue of the '54, 55, or '56 Les Paul. vincentw
yeah...'54s have the wraparound, the historics reissue '56 and '57 have the tune-o-matics -- ABR1 specifically.
FennRx
the abr-1 bridge was not introduced until 1955 (officially 1956), so 1954 Reissues will have the wraparounds and 1952s will have the trapeze.
