JohnH
Anyone upgraded the tuners?
bluefoxicy
http://www.amazon.com/Sperzel-Satin-Chrome-Locking-Machine/dp/B000Z7EMX4/ Satin chrome instead of shiny chrome, but it looks nice on the guitar. They're lovely and I will probably repurchase when I get a Les Paul Studio (the standard I'll leave alone, since I'm going for the Signature Slash standard). JohnH
Have to drill new holes or fill in existing screw holes?
bluefoxicy
Drill new holes. I paid a tech $50 to do it for me (~_~) because I didn't want to screw up the woodwork. Really I was gonna line the tuners up, push them into the wood a bit to make a dimple, and drill right into that... but figured against it. jeffo46
If you want to change the tuners on your LP Special, then get yourself a set of Grover Minis. They have a 14-1 ratio, and I believe ,only go for $40.00.Plus,you won't have to do any drilling to accomodate them. They're especially made for guitars with smaller holes on the headstock. bluefoxicy
Good advice. I like the Sperzels 'cause they lock the strings and they're sealed and lubricated. How's the grovers?

TWANG
If you want to change the tuners on your LP Special' date='then get yourself a set of Grover Minis. They have a 14-1 ratio, and I believe ,only go for $40.00.Plus,you won't have to do any drilling to accomodate them. They're especially made for guitars with smaller holes on the headstock.[/quote'] 18:1 ratio! and yep they should pop right in. I use minis on fender style headstocks all the time and contrary to what some have said, never a problem. TWANG
