robertf
RobertF - are the truss rod covers with 'SG' on them stock? My '96 has the TRCs with the vertical 'GIBSON'. Yes, the necks are set and the "SG" truss rod covers are stock. My guitar is a 2005. Rob
robertf
Oh no I really wouldn't want bolt ons this one is a set necks' date='just got the case today that I bought from Ebay Epi won't fit so I'm batting 100% for bunk purchases this month,as for the guitar its self well all smiles are off as I suspect I'll have to return it from whence it came the flaw I mentioned is a crack in the finish that spans between the fifteenth and sixteenth frets this is not good new as I know what comes next.I've mentioned this problem and opened a thread on the subject of the set necks coming unglued I just don't understand it I've owned two other G-1275's that were used and both were showing signs of stress at the tenon joints,I own a Gibson Les Paul and no problems with it and I own an Epiphone EJ-200,I would figure the acoustic would do this but I've had nothing but bad luck with these set neck on the G-1275's..?[/quote'] Sorry to hear about the stress cracks. This is a heavy guitar so I NEVER pick it up or carry it around by either of the necks in order to avoid just the issue you are talking about. I always hold / carry it by the body. The guitar is based on the SG (obviously!!) and every Gibson SG I've ever seen eventually develops those cracks around neck to body join.

Fixed it for you...
Funkwire
I hope you didn't pay $799 for a bolt on??? I did not...nowhere near $799. I have to respectfully disagree with your estimation of the bolt-on G-1275. Would I prefer a set neck model? Certainly. I think the set neck is superior to a bolt-on neck in guitar construction (sorry, Saint Leo!) But the folks at the Unsung factory did a good job putting my particular doubleneck together.
