thelax
i heard that even among the same model guitars, some are just made better than others well i opened up the back of my brother's black beauty to check how well the wiring was done i mean, this is the only epiphone we've got so i have nothing to compare it to is this a decent wiring job for a black beauty? or is this one of the crappy jobs? antwhi2001
All that matters is : does it work ok? (the selector switch, the volume and tone controls). Is there any electrical humming or buzzing? If it works, don't worry about it. When people talk about variable quality between guitars of the same model, they usually mean the wood and construction, not the electrics. TheX
Crappy wiring matters to me, it had better not suck.
ef_in_fla
I've got one and it works so it never dawned on me to open the back and look. Besides is it considered crappy wiring just because the wires aren't neat even though it may work for a thousand years?
thelax
i dont know... sloppy wiring would likely lead to problems later on, maybe just not right now and i thought epiphone guitars had like plastic connectors holding some wires in their control cavity i dont see it in this one... funny
Dave
The wiring in the control cavity can be too neat if you shorten the wires to minimum. I like enough slack to remove a control if I want to without having to unsolder it first. Dressing the wires is better than cutting them to exact length. When I look at a control cavity, I look for neat solder joints and no "slag" present on components or on the wood.
antwhi2001
Don't worry about the lack of connectors. I've owned 4 Epis in the last 7 years and none had those connectors. Yours looks much the same as mine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
