KDKowalski
Recently I noticed at my local epiphone dealer, Les pauls in stock appeared to have a different wood body. I would say from looking at them side on, they are using a low grade hardwood, then applying a stripped mahogany veneer. I had noticed this earlier on the G400. Having said this I have had a couple of the Les Pauls from both the Korean and Chinese factories, with completely solid Mahogany backs, as well as a wildkat (which was awesome) with the same. These were made from mulitple pieces glued together, however the grain was consistant in not being veneered. Is Epiphone reducing costs by supplying a lower grade wood? layboomo
"Is Epiphone reducing costs by supplying a lower grade wood? There have been hundreds of threads about mystery mahogany etc...etc... Cheap is what cheap gets.
