blindjimmy
hi everyone, i've been changeing some resistors im my vj3, but those caps, i've never removed a cap from a pcb, and i dont want to do something wrong. could someone tell me the best way to get these off, and what about that clear goo that seems to be welded to the caps and the board, should i just slice through that with an exacto, and then gently pry it off the board and off the caps before unsoldering them? thank you
Eracer_Team
although R11 drains your caps, you should always check with your meter that they are in fact drained or someday you'll get a surprize. Yes the caps are soldered to the under side of the board, you'll need to take out the tubes (remember which is the 12ax7 and the el84) unscrew the board, unsolder your caps. Take an exacto type knife and gently cut the glue. you can cut the glue first if you wish, just don't yank on the caps till you've unsoldered them.
