stevee
Seems like a simple question - drill a hole in the heel where it meets the body, facing the rear? Facing the front? Wrap it around the head, just after the nut and the first set of tuners? Sounds silly but I've drilled holes both ways and before I get the machinery out thought I'd seek wisdom. Eddie Rondack
Eddie' date=' that's a beautiful guitar in your avatar. What model is it? [/size'] That's my brand new custom shop Western Classic Prewar J-200... custom because it has an adirondack spruce top/top braces and a mahogany neck... Honestly, I ripped that photo off the net, but my guitar does indeed look just like that... I'm just not that good a photographer... Thanks for asking! gibsonjunkie
Here is where I put them on mine - it rides better than on the butt of the heel.

guitarstrummer
That's a great idea.. And I bet it sits in the case better as well.. Thanks - much appreciated - and it too is a beautiful guitar.. Best - That's where most luthiers recommend that it be placed and that's where I have all of mine. It's not that hard to do it yourself, but if you feel at all uneasy about doing it, take it to someone who knows what they're doing. There is a possibility of hitting the truss rod or splitting the wood if you're not careful.
