"Now I know the difference between a whammy bar and a tremolo/vibrato arm..."

Then you also know the logical answer to your question!#-o

Well, i play metal on it (yes on a dot) and i always see vibratos on semi-hollows, but i want a whammy. I just dont know if it'll be good for the guitar.

gotta go, in school. heh

arch tops get bigsbys..... because they pop right on, pretty much.

if you wanted a fender or floyd style you'd have to modify the body pretty drastically.

the three, bigs, fen, floyd, are different in how they work.

You can do some fairly dramatic diving with the fender style, if it's a modern good one and well set up.

but not with the bigsby.

with the floyd pretty much you can do whatever you want.

for me the terms are really interchangeable, because they are used that way.. whammy tremolo vibrato..

and the only difference is in thier mechanical effect.

I'm putting a bigsby on the lp studio.. I'll probably put one on the sheraton, too.. just gotta wait until the gas atttack!

In order to get a floyd on that dot, you'd have to have, as with a fender, a rear compartment.

A way to get to the mechanism from the back, for the springs.

that kind of modification isn't something easy for even a pro.

So.. no matter what you call them, it's the physical hassle of the floyd or fender style, needing those springs inside the body that

dictates what you can do.

metal on a dot is ok. No problem. But dive bombing ... that's gonna be hard.
