TWANG Posted January 11, 2009 Share Posted January 11, 2009 black are usually of a very slick material. graphite. which lets the strings pass through the slots easier. some are just black plastic. most people swap out the black epi nut for tusq or bone. which are white. I think the epi nut is really ok.. some feel it's a tone sucker. some people buy a graphite nut on purpose.. esp. those with whammys..
