antwhi2001
After I did a pup swap in my LP Custom Plus I've found a big drop off in volume. It applies to both pups equally and any / all settings. It's now the quietest guitar I've got, and I'm sure something is wrong. I don't have a meter to read the impedance of the pups, but as it's affecting both of them I'm assuming they are not the problem. In fact I have exactly the same pups in my V, and the V is much louder. Any ideas about wiring or components? Thanks guys.
Ricochet
Assuming the PUs are at the correct height settings? Check the wiring contact points that share both PUs(switch, ground etc) for a bad/cold solder point.
antwhi2001
Thanx Ricochet. lt's fixed now. I found a poor solder contact on the jack socket. Also noticed one of the pots had got twisted so that one contact was pushed tight against the side of the cavity, where there was a smear of conductive paint. Probably the socket at fault. TWANG
is that a mirror guard or a chrome guard on the silver lp? I just made a set of mirror guard, switchplate, and both rear covers with chrome pup rings.. that looks pretty nice on the silver! TWANG
