VJ Headphone Possibility

Is it possible to install a headphone jack on a Version Three Valve Junior? I need to keep all the speaker taps, (4,8,16 ohm)... but a headphone jack has recently become an option I'd like to add. If this is possible can somebody provide some instructions and/or a schematic for this mod? Also any imput on a good jack (maybe with a part number), to use. Thanks in advance to any who respond on this question....

There is another thread where we recently discussed this, and the consensus is that it ain't really feasible. You have to keep a valve amp under a load at all times, and without a speaker that gets pricey. Plus, it won't sound anything the same as the amp does.

A tube amp with a typical speaker attenuator simply won't feel or sound like it should. My experience with speaker attenuators has been limited to the simple designs of the Marshall Power Brake and the Bad Cat (post-Matchless) "Leash", and some light bulb and resistor/rheostat experimentation. Those all sucked major tone and dynamics at full attenuation.

Here's one that supposedly gets around those inherent problems, but it sure ain't cheep. And you'd still need a separate headphone amp to go with it. At any rate, they give a good explanation of what you can expect from speaker attenuators.

Here's some slightly cheaper options that also have their proprietary solutions to the age old attenuator dilemma. Can't offer any tips on how well they work, as I simply haven't tried 'em.

Guys, thanks for the info, guess the ol' Marshall MG does still have a place of use for a while longer.

Woulda been nice to work with a VJ after all have bedded down for the evening; but I see now that ain't

gonna be happenin'. The speaker load thing hadn't occured to me at all...
