bobdod
Does anyone know anything about an Epiphone acoustic model 1963 EJ 45S? I've google but have not found anything helpful. I now there is an AJ 45 1963 Reissue, but I've never heard of an EJ 45. Any Ideas?
stone1281734000
Where did you see that model #? In a listing? In a shop? Is it a reissue or an old vintage 1963? Most likely the "EJ" is just a typo and should be "AJ". If you saw the "1963 EJ-45 S" in the title of this video: http://video.aol.co.uk/video-detail/epiphone-1963-ej-45-s-guitar-demo-rockstar-supply-jordan-layne-bourland/3529417442 it's a typo. That's the 1963 AJ45 Reissue he's playing.

The_Buffalo
Looks like an AJ to me - doesn't have the typical EJ body shape.
TommyK
This vintage collector's list doesn't show an EJ45, 'S" or otherwise http://home.provide.net/~cfh/epiphone.html There was an FT45 but this isn't it. Looks too 'new' to be a '63 I think this date is suspect. Is he trying to sell?
bobdod
Saw guitar. It has the sticker inside the body that shows the model number as 1963 EJ 45S. could it just be an AJ 45 thats built for another market (Japen, etc...)?

If so, it's an 1963 AJ-45 Reissue. Could be a typo on the label or a counterfeit.

pohatu771
I'm guessing that it's simply a 1963 J-45 reissue. Epiphone likes to put "E" in front of the model name to differentiate from the Gibson, like the EJ-160E. The "J" and "AJ" models are different, traditionally, though maybe the Epiphone versions aren't accurate.

What I'm getting at, I've never known Gibson or Epiphone or any guitar manufacturer to put a date of manufacture anywhere on a guitar, including the label. Epiphone (and Gibson) does this all the time: "Inspired by 1964 Texan," "Elitist '61 Dot," "John Lennon 1965 Casino," etc. The model in question is named the "1963 EJ (or AJ) 45" after the white batwing pickguard, red (or black) finish, and white button tuners. They may have also come in sunburst, too, if I recall correctly. Red
