"Inspired by" vs Elitist Casino

You make a compelling case for both of them!

In my humble opinion' date=' the fact that the Elitist has a slightly different look from the one used by that famous gentleman from the well known beat combo is a major plus!

I like the idea of the Casino as something that does a decent jazz/blues box sound (given that the short-neck ES330s now cost a fortune over here) but will also do a nice chiming/crunchy rock thing a-la Paul Weller et al. The Beatles connection is nice, but not really why I'm after a hollowbody with P90s.[/quote']

Well, it sounds to me then...like the Elitist would be the way to go.

Sorry, if I mistakenly thought you were more interested in the IBJL

Casino. It can be a "natural" mistake, around these parts. (Smile)

I'm sure either one' date=' would be to your liking. The USA "Lennon" version, color wise, is more like his is now...or when

they took the photos, and specs. But, when he was playing it, it was pretty pale, in color...

So, the Inspired By JL (Revolution) version (the ones that I've seen, anyway)...aren't that far off...IMHO.

The Elitist versions are great gutiars, in their own right. But, of course, the "natural" will be "glossy," if

that's any consideration?

I think the designers of the Insipred By Lennon did an excellent job with reagrd to how the real guitar ended up. The pics you posted seem to underscore that as well. It would be hard to pass up on the IBL if that is the theme the buyer was going after...

Yeah, the one's I've seen (and played), are really nice, and sound Great, too.

I was plugged into a Fender Deluxe Reverb...everything sounds great, through

those...especially Casino's! (Smile)

Just for the heck of it' date=' I'm going to guess at the IBJL...

Whatever you chose, thanks for the detailed comparison. It's interesting that the P90s sound a bit hotter in the IBJL as I thought that they were supposed to be the same as the ones on the Elitist. I'd have guessed that it might be the stripped back finish being more resonant if it wasn't for the fact that you found the Elitist to be louder unplugged!

I ended up selecting the Elitist... but I decided to go with the Vintage Sunburst instead of the Natural. The only issue was they didn't have one in stock. So they put an order in for one from Epi. I was told they'll call me tomorrow to let me know when I can expect it to arrive to their store from Epi.

The key reason I chose the Elitist is that it was clearly the more resonant guitar when played acoustically. This, of course, is attributable to the wood of the Elitist versus the veneer of the IBL.. For me, this was the most important factor above all else. It also made sense financially too as the spread between the two models was only $400.00. I feel the extra money spent is well represented in the Elitist model. So now I'll just have to find the patience to wait for my new Elitist '65 VS Casino to arrive!:-({|=

Until I can provide pictures of the actual guitar when I receive it, this catalog shot will have to suffice:

I'm still interested in both. It's just that I've never played an Elitist before. I liked the IBJL a lot but I was wondering if the Elitists are that much better (and if the neck profile is similar to the IBJL).

I was just remarking that I didn't want a Casino for the Lennon connection (sacrilege?) but because I like the guitar. Of course, to further mix it up, the IBJL is available in a gloss sunburst version finish too!

However given my recent trouble with Gibson (I've bought and returned 2 ES330s because of problems - particularly with the bridge) I'm now really uncertain whether buying sight unseen is at all sensible. I'd never had much trouble until the last year or so - now three of my last four purchases have been unacceptable.

Given that I can't find any Elitist Casinos anywhere remotely locally, I might just have to go for the IBJL because at least I can try them out up here.

LOL...hey, I'm cool with whatever reason anyone wants a Casino...Lennon, Beatles connection, or not.

My comment, on "Glossy" (Elitist), vs Matte (IBJL) was only regarding the "natural" finished "Elitist," vs

the "Revolution" IBJL version. Both Sunburst '65 versions are glossy. And, there are those who say

"Epiphone" itself, might no longer exist, without The Beatles connection? Who knows? Elitist Casino's ARE...

IMHO, the epitome of current Casino construction and quality. The USA "Lennon" versions being the only

other ones, that (may) be "better," only because of the Nitro finish. Having said all that...the IBJL versions

are certainly great guitars, as well. "Chinese" or not! But, ultimately, YOU will decide, which one fits your

needs/desires best.
