raulduke156
Hello, I just recently bought a 2001 Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus. I'm looking to upgrade the pickups to some Seymour Duncans, but am not sure what ones would be good. I want to play classic rock, blues and maybe some rockabilly stuff. Any suggestions? animalfarm
Too MANY good ones out there: SD, Gibson, GFS, Rockfield... It'll be a personal choice based on your research! I like certain pups, others like the ones they've had experience with. I've never played SD's, but HAVE used the others I listed. Do a bit of research, decide How Much $$$ you want to spend, see what feedback you get! The pups in your EPI are Alnico Classic - Neck, Alnico Classic Plus - Bridge, still decent pups - I love 'em for project gits! Don't forget the AMP will also influence tone, too. ReneBoedker
Have you tried their "Tone Wizard"? This is the result, if you search for a Les Paul playing classic rock: Bridge: Either SH-4 JB or SH-14 Custom 5 Neck: Either SH-2N Jazz or SH-1N '
Figstrum
So it begins for you my friend..... The quest for tone..... I am still looking for my answer. I hope you find an answer soon as this will drive you insane. I have to say that is one good looking guitar!! Pickups are a matter of personal taste, and there is a lot of options out there for you to try. Listen to the guitar players you like and get a feel for the tone you are looking for. I recommend amp first, and pickups second. Take your time and research a lot before you spend your money.

When I FIRST went looking for a set to upgrade my Epi LP Studio I kept going back to these over and over, but since I prefer Covered HBs, I ultimately went with a set of Gibby pups. These are black open-coil, and if you read the reviews, shows several folks who HAVE installed them in their EPI LPs. Are you looking for Covered or Open-Coil? http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Seymour-Duncan-Hot-Rodded-Humbucker-Set-?sku=300030
