Epiphone moved to Grovers on their higher-end guitars about 2004ish' date=' I think. Maybe. Don't quote me.[/quote']

sorry, you said not to quote you. but i believe you're right. I have a 2004 Dot with grovers, but my casino made in 2006 has those Epiphone stamped ones on it....B) I do believe my friends 2002 Dot doesn't have Grover stamped tuners though. I can't recall for sure though.

I'm sure different factories got the "proper" Grovers in at different times, and had to use up the stock on hand before the actual switch.

At any rate.........6 of my guitars have the Grover Rotomatics, or Super Rotos on them, and i've never had the 1st problem with any of them......Grover tuners are (arguably) some of the best made !!

The 18/1 ratios are absolute TOPS in my book, I love being able to fine tune without having to use the "back-n-forth" method.

I just got a Plain Top Epi. L.P. last week and it came with Grovers. I changed the strings on it that day and it's been 5 days now and I am playing the heck out of it and I still haven't had to re-tune it!!!

idk... i just hate the weighty grovers on a SG... or a LP... hence i replaced mine.

its a 2003 G400 and it had the big chunky rotomatics.
