  1. Mine is still unblemished and i'll shoot some new pics soon to post. One heck of a guitar !
  2. glad you found an engine reasonably priced.... we had a '92 "Jimmy" 4.3L (same truck) for years and it was still rolling strong with 450,000+ miles on it...only smoked when 1st cranked (valve guides). always heard the 2.8 was a 305 missing the front 2 cylinders, and the 4.3 a 350 w/o the front 2....... both are great engines!
  3. KSD......to NOT prosecute = enabling, and next time she may well take a life. she NEEDS an eye opener. even axe murderers etc. are "Great People" to those that want to believe..........
  4. i WANT one......never knew such an animal even existed! as far as needing a setup....PLEASE go a page or 3 back in this forum and check out my topic on the "JDL (JLD?) Bridge Dr." device. this little $22 unit saved my EJ200.....has the strings as low as on an American Deluxe Strat, with NO buzz.....and actually improved the sound, just like the ad said it would. it's an easy install (no hatchets involved ) and it absolutely WORKS ! Edit.....found & bumped the old thread... guess that makes me a , necrobumper! is that a new dance or an old crime?
  5. thanks....it's fine now except the bite site its-self is a little slower healing.

good health & wellbeing to you & yours!

  6. as long as the neck and fretboard are both good, hard wood, I really don't care what either is made from, but i'm terribly heavy handed and rather rough on a neck/FB, so if there's a little extra "drag" at first, it won't be there long. the only necks I don't care for are the "dipped in plastic" poly necks some Asian guitars have.....but a good dose of ultra fine 0000 steel wool fixes that really fast!
  7. i'd give my left almond to have THAT guitar !!!
  8. Planet Waves IIRC.....happened the 1st yr I had the V
  9. I use a Hercules w.my '88 LP (older nitro's likely safer than fresh) and my '10 SG Std. with no ill effects. that said, NOT ALL black "hard foam" is safe because I hung my '07 V in a wallhanger that was supposedly "safe"....and I now have 2 bare spots on the underside of the headstock.
  10. you have some very interesting concepts and could probably build some fine guitars. oddly, my SG Std. (7/'10) is one of very few guitars I HAVEN'T modded in any way, it still even has the PCB board in it.....it took a while to get the p'ups balanced just right for my playing, but i've found no reason/excuse to change anything about it (except straplocks of course".
  11. what he said ! you'll get a sour grape occasionally from ANY vineyard.....
  12. wow! JENDELL has some crazy good grain !!
  13. if you're in the U.S. "continuous 48" I can send you a few (maybe 4) screws I have left over from projects......enough to get 1 guitar built at least.....PM me & let me know.

  14. I like the Korean & China Epis I own... the '98 LP has sucky p'ups, but plays like a dream....i'm considering dropping a spare Gibby neck p'up into it, but the bridge unit isn't really that bad. I have an '04 G400-Deluxe flametop...same thing, plays GREAT, neck p'up just too thick & muted. '08 Sheraton II plays great AND both p'ups sound pretty good...never felt any need to change anything on it except adding 18/1 tuners. early '10 '56 GoldTop LP was my 1st China Epi, and was a disaster when it arrived.....neck needed 2 adjustments right away just to be playable, one p'up wasn't even screwed into the body, literally hanging under the strings....bad 3-way & bad input socket. late '10 G4oo LP Custom was just the opposite, perfect out of the box, good p'ups, everything working just right. I currently have a 12/12 50th Ann. '62 Sheri on its way....hope it's like the LPC!!
  15. scored mine yesterday for Valentines !! it'll arrive wednesday....got it from Sweetwater, so it'll be set up great and ready to go!
  16. the flametop isn't a Gibby, therefore, I present.... Esther....and Lester
  17. tentative arrival date at my favorite retailer is 2/4/13.....he's calling me as soon as one comes in !!!
  18. O....M....G !! that's the 1 guitar i'd sell other guitars for time to get busy
  19. of all my guitars i've named very few of them, any time I take my old LP to play I say "c'mon old timer" so I guess it's name is old timer.....although "crusty" may be more accurate. another i've named is my Washburn acoustic......we've been through many battles together & it even has a few drops of my blood inside it (along with some whiskey) this is "old soldier" I call my Sheraton II "Sherri" but it's not an "earned" name, so does' that even count? not to me..........
  20. my 1st Chinese Epi was an early '56 LPGT, and it was a mess when I broke the seal on the box from GC.... fit & finish were great, but the details.... neck not settled in yet, took 3 adjustments to set it. neck P-90 not even screwed into the body cavity, literally HANGING up against the strings. 3 way broken and unusable except in neck position. input socket wire broken, and socket grounded internally. lots of TLC turned it into: it was 2 1/2 yrs before I risked buying another Chinese Epi "in the box". it arrived in a state of absolute perfection !! (granted, Sweetwater inspected/set-up/played it before they shipped it, but the things that fall under "build quality" were really top notch and impressive: I wouldn't hesitate to buy another ChEpi' now.......the QC has really stepped up the game
  21. hmmmm Asian arm holding a guitar up against bamboo wallpaper? why don't we just make it easier and post Epi's blueprints so these "2 friends from Bulgaria" can make even BETTER counterfeits???? yes, i'm jaded, but most likely right too !
  22. fairly common problem here........ did you replace the factory strings, and did you change string guage? anyhow...... start w/good strings of factory (.010) size, make sure they're not binding in the nut, if they are then use an old string as a file to "rout out" the notch until it glides through easily. lube the slots with pencil graphite afterwards. make sure the screws and barrel nut on the tuners themselves are tight. these are the most common causes.
  23. my 8/88 Strings-n-Things exclusive 30th Anniversary '58 Plaintop. bought new in 3/89......hang tag listed "Tobacco burst" but stamped VSB under the neck p'up
  24. I gotta give a "bump" to this very valid and interesting topic...... Love my '56 GT, but was hatin' on the buzz.....considered swapping out p'ups, but love the raw tone too much. Have this topic saved in "favorites" for possible future use....... But for now, i'm beating the buzz/hum by a really groovy 99% with a simple noisegate, not set high enough to "suck my tone", just enough to clean it up a bit. The gate (built into my Zoom multi unit) and the '56 GT thru a good '59 Bassman modeler is pretty much "tonevana" for me.
  25. While we're bombarding Epi1 with "wish lists"........i'll go on record as saying that I would personally BURN my Telecaster (which I really like) and post it on a youtube video titled "Fenders are firewood!" if Epi. would do a "Special Run" of Korean J.L.H. Sheratons, in VSB, with Gibson NY Mini-Humbuckers & a Frequensator....... I'd print a copy of this offer and sign it if that could make it happen!!!!!!! Just for the record........my '07 Korean Sheraton II, is still my favorite "Blues Cannon" and it's as bone-stock as the day it was made.
