brianh
It's a Casino alright, looks like a 60's vintage sunburst. Without a look at the label or a serial number, hard to tell specifically what year. No idea what model or year the bow is though...
GMartinez83
Thanks man. They don't make that type of finish anymore on the newer casinos do they?
jfalkens
It could be a Gibson ES-
brianh
They do make a sunburst, but it's poly on the Standard, IBJL and Elitist Casinos, and not as nice as the Vintage, which had a nitrocellulose finish. The '65 Reissues are nitro. Here's a comparison chart and some additional info & pics by other members: http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=11079
brianh
It could be a Gibson ES-330 I'm pretty sure the ES-330s had only rectangular or dot fretboard inlays. They look trapezoidal to me in the photo which would pretty much mean it's a Casino. Notes Norton has one of each: http://www.nortonmusic.com/GuitarCousins2.JPG
jonny_2_owls
Is that the Fleet Foxes? If so I'm 99.99% sure it's a Casino as I saw them live and he played a vintage casino (the one pictured) and a vintage riviera also in sunburst. I read that they also have a Lennon casino in an interview in a guitar magazine.
charlie brown
Casino, by the horn shapes, probably '65 or earlier. It's either a faded vintage burst, or Royal Tan. (Royal Tan, is usually even more faded, around the edges, but not always.) My '66, which has more "pointed" horns...(though not a '66 color)...it was refinished, in 1980...if you'd seen it, you'd know why! LOL! charlie brown
Found a '61 Casino, on the Vintage Guitar site...in "Royal Tan." Note too, that it has "dot" makers, as well. The headstock (not visable) is like Paul McCartney's...the more Gibson like, wider open book, style, as opposed to the later and current "hour-glass" versions. You can clearly see the differnce, in horn shapes, to the '66 I posted above. CB
GMartinez83
Yup, that's skyler from the Fleet Foxes. YOU ARE SO LUCKY! I would give anything to see them live =] Alright, so how much would a 60's casino set you back?

jonny_2_owls
Yup' date=' that's skyler from the Fleet Foxes. YOU ARE SO LUCKY! I would give anything to see them live ='] I saw them at Glastonbury festival, to be honest they weren't that great. They had a huge crowd and seemed very overwhelmed by it all. Shame really as I really hoped they'd be something special. Very nice guitars though!
brianh
Alright' date=' so how much would a 60's casino set you back? [/quote']'09 Blue Book has them starting at $3,500 for the two-pickup versions in 98% mint condition in years '66 through '69. A few hundred more for '61 through '65. But I think demand is high enough now that finding one in that condition for sale is difficult and it would be closer to $5k if you did find it. charlie brown
Yeah, pretty close! However, according to "Vintage Guitar's" Price guide, it's about 2 grand overpriced...for "mint!" They're saying $4,500. But heh, you don't ask, you for sure won't get it. LOL! CB
brianh
Here's one for sale right now, have at it: http://cgi.ebay.com/1964-Epiphone-Casino-E230-TD-Vintage-100-original-/390204160383?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Guitar&hash=item5ad9faf97f and another with a tremolo: http://cgi.ebay.com/1965-1968-vintage-E230td-Casino-CHERRY-Epiphone-W-CASE-/260608742866?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Guitar&hash=item3cad7dd5d2 The red one is marked as a second, not that it matters much 40 years later...
