pohatu771
I was just curious and wondered if there was either a reference out there on the interweb or an easy way to tell by looking at the thing. I didn't expect people to keep going on at me telling me I don't need to care as long as I like the guitar. I'm not trying to chose a guitar here' date=' it was just a question born out of curiosity.[/quote']That's a common problem I find online... no one really cares what the original question is, because they just want to tell you that there's something magical about your guitar and you shouldn't care. It's extreme romanticism. That said, short of cutting the guitar down the middle, it won't be terribly easy to be 100% sure what it's made out of, unless you extract pieces and have them analyzed. The best I can say is that it will be some mahogany-like wood with a lighter cap and a maple veneer.
james_edward
Try pulling the bridge studs out, on my LP you get a really good look at a cross section of the body when you do.
Matt_Sabbath_684
Open up your control or toggle switch cavity. If its not painted black inside, it should be pretty easy to tell. If it is painted, take a dremel to one corner of the cavity. You'll get a good look, and nobody will have to know that you did it.
