DR-500 Neck is "Flimsy"

Recommended Posts

I just recently purhcased a DR-500R. Great guitar for the price.

I've noticed that the neck isn't incredibly stable. If I apply pressure to the neck (i.e. push it toward the front or back of the guitar) it gives quite a bit, enough to create a wammy bar effect on the strings. Anyone else deal with this? Is it just something you get with buying this guitar or has anyone found a solution? Maybe replacing the truss rod?

Anything helps, thanks!

Welcome to the forum !

Almost any guitar will change pitch if you apply pressure to the neck, acoustic, solid body electric, nature of the beast type thing.

Jimi Hendrix used this effect on his flying v a LOT.

I personally cracked a neck pocket on a bolt neck guitar doing it.

So, don't do it !
