hastingsgear
Yeah, I ran the number and it came up legit. There are pics are on eBay (lefty casino) but I don't trust this guy. Or the price. How can one really tell????

epinder
I've been keeping an eye out for a lefty Casino myself. I have also been spotting them on ebay every couple of weeks or so and it seems they are all 4, 5, or more years old and in brand new condition. Hmmmmm. Plus they all seem to be located in Asia.... I can't prove it, but I think there is an influx of fake left handed Casinos in the USA now. When a real (one that can be verified) lefty Casino comes up for auction they usually demand top dollar, not the $400/$500 dollars these sell for. I would be very very leary of any large ebay purchase now unless the seller has documentation of ownership. Good Luck
hastingsgear
Thanks, guys. I'm not touching that eBay Cho97 dude. I'll have to come up with a different hollow-body P90 plan. I know! Maybe we should start a left-handed petition and ask Epiphone to make a bunch of lefty casinos for all us Southpaws! Is it worth a shot????? KX36
This is why I struggled past my sinister ways and learned to play right handed. Lefty guitars are so limited and therefore limiting.
HarpBoy
Yeah' date=' I ran the number and it came up legit. There are pics are on eBay (lefty casino) but I don't trust this guy. Or the price. How can one really tell????[/quote'] So when you "ran the number" did it occur to you that a forger could have just made his fakes all with the same serial number from a legitimate guitar that he got from a store or from a picture? The Guitar dater project doesn't look up numbers; it just displays generic information based on rules in the app. In other words, it's absolutely useless. Cheers

Yup. In fact, I played around with the number and could generate my own "legit" number. As an aside, the last one he had up didn't sell. It's up on eBayagain. bluelake07
Does anyone know the year and plant when the last lefty casinos were made? One of the forum members had a lefty casino that was made in 2005 and that's the most recent one I can recall hearing about. I'm thinking it is from the Peerless factory; not certain of that. flyingv09
So I recently bought a lefty Firebird on eBay and these posts have me thinking I made a costly mistake. Supposedly only made in 1999 and a 'rare' issue. Serial # starts with U99...with the last 3 digits etched out supposedly by manufacturer and being stamped 'used' by manufacturer to void warranty scams. It's natural sunburst with the raised center and 2 mini humbuckers. I've had guitar tech formerly at GC tell me it's legit. It still has the plastic film on the back plate where the electronics are and the CE sticker on the back of the headstock I'm gonna get my pix together and my auction info and see what you all think. I do really like the guitar and if I upgrade the hardware maybe it'll be better. Is there somehow to track the serial # and origins? Thanks
flyingv09
I just found an auction from the seller of the Firebird I bought. Similar claim "manufacturer refurbished" is it rubbish? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190406084838#ht_1111wt_694

I can't see the fakers going the "used" route. As soon as I see used on the headstock' date=' I think lower price and we know the fakers are out there trying to maximize their $2.00 investment. Now that you mention this though, there are a s..tload of "USED" JP lefties on ebay lately. Left handed JP's haven't been available for a year or two, so why are "used" ones popping up now? I'm not 100% sure they are legit, but they sure look correct. Just odd. You should post a couple of pics!!! And while you're here.....a question I've wanted to ask for a while and since you are from Rockville, why does Michael Stipe warn someone to "Don't Go Back To Rockville"??? What are you people doing in Rockville? JK
