bill67
If you had open dual coil pickups and taped one side with a good electrical tape would it sound at all like a single coil

KX36
:) To get an estimate of a single coil sound from a humbucker, you need one with 3 or 4 conductor wiring where you can use a switch to either change between either having both coils in series (humbucker sound) or one coil bypassed or short circuited (single coil sound); or having the 2 coils in series (humbucker sound) or parallel (exaggerated single coil sound). If you want a permanent single coil sound, try changing the pickup or guitar.
Whitmore Willy
Never tried it but, I don't think so. Usually takes 4 wires + ground and push pull pot or micro switch. (north start, north finish, south start, south finish, + ground or shield) Although, others may have a different opinion: Willy
