KBrown
Hello... Looking for advice. Beginner, looking for small tube head or combo amplifier (less than 5 watts), for no more than $200. I have a Marshall G15MS (15 watt head w/ two 8 ohm speakers). Should I get an amp head and use the Marshall speakers or get a combo amp? Looking at the following: Blackheart Head BH1H (Sounds like a winner, but BH5H is just $20 more) Blackheart Head BH5H (If the power attenuator works well. Might be too loud) Vox AC4TV Head (I only have 8 ohm speakers) Vox AC4TVmini Combo (If the power attenuator works well) Bugera V5 Combo (If the power attenuator works well) Leaning toward one of the Blackhearts or the Vox AC4TVmini. The Blackheart BH1H is limited, but 1 watt might be perfect. The Blackheart BH5H looks more attractive, but 3 watts might be too loud (Not sure at what level these start to distort.) What would be great is a 2 watt version of the BH5H w/ reverb! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, KB
deflepfan
There's another thread on this same subject or close to it, that was posted today. I use the Bugera V5 - and the attenuation works great! I love the sound of this little amp, and so does my son, who uses it often for practice. It gets pretty loud, and sounds great at lower levels as well. I use it mostly set at .5 watt, where Evan sets it at 5 watts. Only had it for a couple of months now, but it works just fine for me. I picked this amp as it had the headphone jack, and reverb. The attenuation was a bonus. Try them all (I did!) and have a great time doing so. The right one will find you! Sheila

philpm
If you're just looking for something plain, no reverb or anything, I'm going to get the AC4TV8 in a couple of weeks. Same as the regular AC4TV, just with an 8" speaker instead of the 10. You can actually get these from J&R Electronics online for $120.
