alans056
Hello, I have a very quick question : When I adjust the string height, must all the strings be at the same height ? Or can the fist 3 strings be a little higher than the last 3 ? Thank you!
Guest BentonC
No, they don't need to be the same. We actually adjuzt them in the factory with the treble size a little lower than the bass side, but feel free to set the guitar up to your own playing preference. This is one of those things that has no solid rule, and you'll see a lot of difference in the way different guitarists will have the action/setup... BigKahune
No. Your typical spec calls for more height on the base side. Like 5/64 or 4/64 on the bass side and 3/64 on the treble. You can go up or down from there to your taste.
alans056
Thanks a lot guys. But still, the less space possible without fret buzz is ideal right ?
BigKahune
Actually, as BentonC said, there's no solid rule. There's variation in personal preferences - some players like the action really low, even if it buzzes unamped, as long as you can't hear the buzzing when amped; and some players like more height. Depends how you like it.
vincentw
Right...bass side tends to be set higher than treble side. But it ultimately comes down to the player's personal opinion. Same with bridge and tailpiece height...subjective. Don't let your friends and neighbors try to tell you you're doing things the wrong way.
