Spiteface
Hmm, last time I was around here, I was only on the Epi forums, now I find they are merged. Anyway, on with my query. One of my favourite Les Paul users is James Dean Bradfield, lead guitarist and lead singer of the Manic Street Preachers. Typically he plays white LP customs live (and more recently without pickup covers, some claim he's using Duncan Alnico II pro humbuckers, which makes sense, as he was a bit of a Slash fan back in the day). this week, I was watching Later With Jools Holland because they were one of the bands on. First song they did, I spotted James playing a 3-pickup LP custom in white. I know about the "Black Beauty" 3-p/up LPs, but I had never seen a white one like that before: I'd love to know if anyone can shed any light on it. BigKahune
I've only seen 3 pup ebony customs (Black Beauty) for sale. No sure about if/when they were available. But you can have a dealer order an Alpine White Custom with 3 pups. http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/Les-Paul-Custom/Finishes.aspx Or have a dealer order a 3 pup "Black Beauty" Custom in white. Either way, bring a load of loot to pay for it.
Spiteface
aha, I suspected it wouldn't be an "off the peg" model, so to speak. It's unusual for him, as I've never seen him with a 3-pickup LP, ever. Maybe he just wanted something that looks flashy for TV and gigs.
